Description

The First Nations people in the Canadian Armed Forces have served Canada with distinction and courage since the earliest days. Their traditional way of life, especially the scouting, hunting and shooting skills that they learned in the wilderness, equipped them naturally to become skilled soldiers.

Today, the Ontario 3rd Canadian Ranger Patrol Group (3CRPG) maintains this tradition of military service. This group, a specialized Reserve component of the Canadian Armed Forces, conducts search-and-rescue operations and provides security in the most rugged areas of Northern Ontario.

The Ontario 3rd Canadian Ranger Patrol Group (3CRPG) is a unique part of the current Canadian Armed Forces in that they currently are comprised of 98.4% First Nations soldiers. Within the broader spectrum, there are 5 Canadian Ranger Patrol Groups in Canada, each patrolling a specified area set out by the Canadian Armed Forces.   They are under the management of the Army branch.
