Warriors and Nations, voices from the original people is a full-colour book that features biographies of Indigenous Canadian Veterans, soldiers and the Knowledge Keepers within their communities. Each province and the three territories are represented by warriors, who have served as early as the Boer War to those warriors currently in military service. The reader gains insights into Indigenous societies and learns that there are fundamental similarities in their co-existence and connection to the land that they continue to name “Mother Earth”; the role of Elders within their communities; and struggles encountered to practice their traditions, spirituality, and language. Indigenous artwork from artists living in each province and territories visually interprets their meaning of the words strength- honour – pride
This is one of the pieces of artwork being created by Indigenous artist Darrell Chocolate from the NWT … Muskox.
